Frequently Asked Questions

About Us

- Who Runs MyBigList.com?

The website is run by Peter J. Rzeminski II. Peter is currently employeed by a successful Dot-Com and maintains the website in his spare time.

- Why did you create this website?

Good question. It all stems back to a friend of mine, also named Pete. Pete is infamous for his LONG and extremly detailed Christmas Lists. Every year we await the arrival of the list... all 20 pages of it. With a list this large, it was necessary for someone to maintain the list, marking off who was getting whatl that fell to his then-fiance Jen.. This meant we had to constantly call Jen at her home to "sync up" our list with hers. Not exactly the thing you want to be doing during the Holidays. It then struck me, "Why don't I put my meager programming skills to use and automate this". That is how the concept was born.

The entire concept boils down to this. This website will do what every parent, fiance, boyfriend, girlfriend, fiance, wife, husband, etc hates to do around the Holidays, Birthdays, and Anniversary's...Answer that question of questions "What does So and So want for __________?".

You can log onto this website at any time of day or night and enter in the stuff you want to get. We don't track holidays so that is not an issue. Once you have a list of the things you want to get online, you can print out the handy "MyBigList Access Cards" to give to your friends and loved ones. They can then log onto the website and see what you want. The website will then keep track of what items you are getting and who is getting them for you.

Privacy

- Why do I have to register for an account to see my friends Big List?

We require to register for an account because this is how we keep you informed if anything changes on the list you seleted and bought a gift from.

For example, lets say that Mom puts little Pete's Birthday list online and friends and relatives start seleting items from the list. Let us also assume that the big items on there are G.I. Joe's with the Kung-Fu grip.

Uh oh, Little Pete's friends suddenly decided that G.I. Joe is uncool and only the cool kids have Power Ranger toys.

I think you can see where this is going.

Mom now has to go onto the list and take the G.I. Joe stuff off the list and put on Power Ranger stuff.

Well, if you bought a G.I. Joe toy and you selected it from the online Big List, you would get an email saying that the item you bought was removed from the list because <<insert Mom's explination here>>. You can now go back to the Toy store, exchange the present with another, and eveyone is happy. Especially Little Pete who gets a bunch of Power Ranger toys.

BTW, I have nothing against G.I. Joe. I still have my A-10 Warthog with pilot and my F-15 Strike Eagle. They occasionally fight it out with my Star Wars figures, but, umm, that's a conversation for my therapist.

- Why do I have to give you a real email address to register for an account?

Same reason that we need you to sign up for an account.

- Why do you want my real street address?

Now, if you notice, this isn't manditory. It is an option that you have. If you do enter it, anyone viewing your Big List can see your address and send you your gift directly.

- What are you doing with all of this information that you are collection?

Other than storing it in a database, nothing much really; it is all collected to make it easier for everyone to share their Big Lists. That is it. I am not selling/trading/showing/giving your information to anyone. Now, if some company with deep pockets comes by and wants to buy the website from me, well it will be up to them what they do with the information in the database. I will promise to give all of you a heads-up on the transaction and to make sure that you get to opt in/out of their mailing lists.

- I *hate* SPAM, are you going to SPAM us?

Nope. This website will NEVER send you unrequested emails outside of the normal traffic required to make the website work.

Ah-HA you say, you are going to use that "normal traffic" line to back-door in a lot of SPAM to us.

Nope. I guess I should define what "normal traffic" is though. For that, please see

Advertise

- I want to advertise on your website, what are your rates?

Well, as silly as it sounds, I'm not looking to make revenue off the website... a this time. First, I'd like to get it working to my satisfaction, get most of the bugs out, see what kind of traffic I get, etc. Then maybe I'll consider it.

In the mean time, send me an email to sales@MyBigList.com and I'll keep your contact info.
